Flowers Gallery in Chelsea is now showing artwork by a group of New York Academy of Art students, faculty and alumni. The show was curated by Matthew Flowers, the owner of the gallery, Laura Hoptman, contemporary art curator at MoMA and Patterson Sims, president of the Board of Independent Curators International. The images below will give you a tour of the gallery while highlighting the variety of art displayed. I have also included a photo from the Opening Reception for this 8th NYAA Summer Exhibition, a fun event that attracted a huge crowd! It is definitely worth seeing the show in person and I am happy to announce that my drawing of "Anna" was one of the artworks selected for display. The show runs until July 12th. Who is showing in Chelsea right now?
My History of Composition class took a field trip to Chelsea yesterday, and I could not resist taking some photos for this blog. On view at Ethan Cohen New York is a show titled CHOCO·PIE PROPAGANDA, by Korean-American Polipop (Political Pop artist) Mina Cheon. Her artwork is intriguing and everyone leaves with a delicious Choco Pie! PPOW Gallery is showing work by Robin F. Williams, a group of bright and large paintings of men. Figurative and still life paintings by William Bailey are on view now at Betty Cunningham Gallery, my personal favorite of the tour. Finally at Andrea Rosen Gallery there is a highly illusionist installation by David Altmejd, sure to take you on a roller coaster of sensations. Go and have fun!

Italian Master Drawings from the Princeton University Art Museum
On view now until May 11th at Princeton University Art Museum is a wonderful show of Italian Master drawings mostly from the Renaissance. The show includes artists such as Luca Cambiaso, Guercino, Tiepolo, Tintoretto, Parmigianino, but also more modern artists such as Modigliani. You will find three rooms full of small to extra large drawings and etchings and even a few paintings. It is an impressive collection that is sure to make you want to go back. I know I will!

Steven Assael's New Drawings at Forum Gallery, NYC
Steven Assael is a very well liked teacher at School of Visual Arts and New York Academy of Art and an accomplished artist. He is currently showing a number of new drawings at Forum Gallery, and they are beautiful. The exhibition runs from November 21, 2013 until February 1, 2014. The gallery is a bit hard to find, on 5th Ave in the building across from Trump Tower, on the 2nd floor. Definitely worth the trip!
